Closing Thoughts & Inspiration

If you made it this far, you’re serious about making your road trip count. I hope this guide gives you the tools and confidence to pull off something big, whether you’re hauling your family out west for a month or chasing a solo adventure you’ll never forget.

Why put all of this out there? I just feel like I have built up a solid knowledge base, and I think this guide can give you a huge headstart in both realizing these trips are doable and in figuring out how to do them right. It's honestly really satisfying to put it all down in one place to potentially share it with other people, and to just feel like the knowledge I have amassed has actual value to people. The whole point of this project is to make it easier for the next crew so you can live out the trip you want.

You don’t have to be an expert, have a brand-new car, or a huge budget. You just have to plan ahead, adapt when things go sideways, and be willing to roll with it. The West is still wild, and the window to experience it like this might not stay open forever.

Lastly, remember that these trips are largely for our kids, and that by taking them on a trip like this, we are showing them what we are capable of and are setting a standard for them that they will be trying to reach for the rest of their lives.  They will remember these trips for the rest of their lives and will hopefully try to replicate it one day with their kids, if it's still possible. And it really might not be, which is why I feel like there is urgency to do these trips as soon as possible.
